Hi CASSA Members,
I’m sorry to inform you that due to changes liquor licensing laws the end of semester party is not able to go ahead as planned. Never fear, we have plans for another party underway that will likely take place later in the year.
Again, we apologise due to the late notice of this and we would like to assure you that we did everything we could to save the party, this cancellation has come at significant cost to the club and we have been doing everything possible to remedy the situation, however alternate plans have not come to fruition.
Regards,
David Cooper

The MegaLAN2 was probably this clubs best and most attended event to date, here’s a post from our VP wrapping up the event:
Howdy people!
In case you guys didn’t know, last weekend was our MegaLAN weekend (but I’m sure you were there!). The turnout was absolutely fantastic and the LAN went off without a hitch (except for me losing in the bomberman tourney, that wasn’t how it was supposed to go!!!!!!!). Overall the event was a great success and it is solely attributed to the support and help from all the volunteers that put aside some of their own time to help make the event possible.
I would like to thank the following for their help:
* SCSS for their support, LCD TV and projector loans. As well as prize donations,
* WAAPA for the 3-phase power,
* Mitch Kelly, for conveniently having extra switches and looms on hand when we needed them,
* Everyone who helped with setup, packup and running of the event,
* Peter Hannay and Glen Thompson for all their tech admin help and support,
* RFLAN for all the networking equipment, power looms and network cables, and
* YOU for coming to our event. You guys can look forward to a lot of improvements and changes for our next MegaLAN, such as bigger (and better) prizes, an improved intranet system, more tournaments, an improved floorplan which will accommodate for more people and much much more!
Photos of the event will be uploaded to our facebook page as well as our website (www.scissa.org.au) very soon. Keep an eye out for our next MegaLAN announcement in the not-too-distant-future.
All feedback is welcome and we would really appreciate if you have anything at all to say about our LAN to shoot us an email, find us on irc (irc.scissa.org.au #scissa) or leave a message on our forums (located on our website).
On behalf myself, and SCISSA, I’d like to thank everybody for coming, it was great fun and I really hope you enjoyed yourselves. We hope to see all of you (and much more!) at our next event

ZOMG FULL LAN
We’ll post some more pics to the site in soon (thanks Steph for taking the great pics!)
Hey everyone,
Just letting everyone know that the MegaLAN preparations are so far 99% complete. Over the next 24 hours I’ll be updating this post/website with information about our line up and further details about what you should (and shouldn’t) bring, but I can say at least we do have a great lineup for everyone this time including many tournaments and prizes to be had.
Additionally we will be giving away a special door prize for all participants in the lan. Basically to be in the running for this one you only need to rock up and be around towards the end of the LAN to win it! I can say however prizes this time include things such as PLE and JB Hifi vouchers, Gaming Headsets, External hard drives and flash drives, and a special mystery prize.
A schedule will be posted soon here with our tournament schedule and pizza and breakfast runs. Also we highly recommend you download and install StrongDC++ (link) or any other DC client you would otherwise use and make sure any files you plan on sharing at the LAN are hashed and read. StrongDC++ will be available on a public share at the lan and advertised, but hashing files can take a long time so please save yourself the trouble and come prepared so you can spend more playing and having fun.
Internet will be provided at the LAN however most external ports will be limited. Steam and some MMO ports will be accessible along with port 80 traffic however you will be at the mercy of content keeper so no 4chan for you (unfortunately…). We also will have dedicated servers available for TF2 and L4D and will be running a intranet system for all music uploads/requests, game requests, tournaments, and pizza orders. Info on accessing these will be provided at the venue.
Entry is still $10 for members and affiliates (Otaku, UCC, ComSSA), while entry is $15 for everyone else. A kiosk will also be available for snacks and cold drinks.
A reminder also that this is a Edith Cowan University hosted event and as per university rules you are not permitted to bring alcohol onto campus, if you are caught you will be asked to leave with or without security escort. Additionally no illegal material is permitted to be brought to the LAN, if you are caught with it police will be contacted. Finally do not bring firearms or weapons of any kind to this event, security cameras will be present in the hall and security will be notified immediately if anyone is caught out of line.
With all of that out of the way, please do come to the second MegaLAN event, we are currently looking at a very good turnout as indicated by our register at lan.scissa.org.au, but if you do have friends or family planning on coming please make sure they are registered as seats are limited and we are aware some have not yet registered.
Otherwise watch this space for more information and enjoy the event.
